Oracle Zero Downtime Migration 21.4
Zero Downtime Migration (ZDM) 21.4 is available for download! ZDM is Oracle’s premier solution for moving Oracle Database workloads to Oracle Cloud, supporting various Oracle Database versions as the source and all Oracle Database Cloud Services as targets. Zero Downtime Migration 21.4 enhances the existing functionality by adding additional physical migration capabilities, sudo-less migration, migration of objects with different GoldenGate support modes, and much more!

What’s New in Oracle Zero Downtime Migration 21.4
Physical Migration Enhancements
◉ Redo Apply Catch Up for Paused Migration Jobs: Instruct ZDM to monitor the redo apply lag after the standby database was created by setting the response file parameter ZDM_APPLY_LAG_MONITORING_INTERVAL. This monitoring is performed periodically after a resume job instruction and will wait until redo apply is finished before resuming.
◉ Resume after manual Data Guard Switchover: in case of a user-initiated manual switchover, ZDM can now be instructed to acknowledge the operation, mark the switchover as completed, and resume the migration job with the rest of the automated workflow.
◉ Configurable RMAN Section Size: the Recovery Manager section size for backups can be manually configured via a new parameter, ZDM_RMAN_SECTION_SIZE, in ZDM's response file.
◉ Target Time Zone Post-Migration Upgrade: a new post-migration task can be enabled via a new response file parameter, ZDM_TGT_UPGRADE_TIMEZONE, which instructs ZDM to upgrade the target database time zone file.
Logical Migration Enhancements
◉ Data and Metadata migration in separate phases: new migration workflow, which performs a regular export and a phased import for metadata. This allows the handling of USER and PROFILE creation and then handling of METADATA creation, finishing with the import of DATA. This flow benefits migrations where modified grants at target level, modification of object level metadata and modification of segment attributes, are required.
◉ Support for tables with XML data types: XML Data Types stored as CLOBS can now be migrated via Data Pump’s automated conversion to BINARY STORAGE. You can now specify the respective source data to be converted, exported, and migrated to the target database.
◉ Sudo-less migration: ZDM now has a new authentication plug-in, which allows you to migrate databases without non-privileged users for both source and target node access.
◉ Other customizations: enhanced Data Pump error handling, Object Storage Pre-authenticated URL support, Auto-start and restart profiles for Oracle GoldenGate microservices and more!
